Sunil Narine's explosive batting and clever bowling propelled the Kolkata Knight Riders to a dominant 98-run victory over the Lucknow Super Giants, securing the top spot on the IPL points table.
KKR Bat First and Feast
KKR set a new high score at the Ekana Stadium with a commanding 235 for 6. Narine, batting at the top of the order, led the charge with a breezy 81. He and Phil Salt provided a blistering start, amassing 61 runs in just 25 balls before Salt departed.
Narine's Middle-Overs Mayhem
After the powerplay, Narine unleashed his fury, particularly against Marcus Stoinis, who was pummeled for three sixes in a single over. He enjoyed a couple of lucky breaks but eventually fell to Ravi Bishnoi. Despite the dismissal, Andre Russell's cameo forced the LSG bowlers to lose their lines.
Ramandeep Singh Provides Late Fireworks
While the death overs lacked the expected acceleration from KKR, Ramandeep Singh provided a late blitz with three sixes and a four in his short stay, propelling KKR to the highest T20 total ever at the venue.
LSG Falter in the Chase
Chasing a mammoth target, LSG started aggressively with KL Rahul and Stoinis providing hope. However, the middle overs saw a dramatic collapse. The dismissals of Rahul, Deepak Hooda, Stoinis, and Nicholas Pooran by Narine, Andre Russell, Varun Chakaravarthy, and others effectively ended the chase. LSG were bundled out for a mere 137 in 16.1 overs.
Looking Ahead
KKR return home for a long break before taking on Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens. LSG, on the other hand, travel to Hyderabad for a mid-week clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
